Invitation to Dresden

NeuroImunoModulation in Health and Disease:
An Integrative Biomedical Approach

We are pleased to announce the

8th Congress of the International Society for NeuroImmunoModulation (ISNIM)

to be held in

Dresden (Germany) October 20-22, 2011.

The 8th ISNIM Congress will be organized together with the German Endocrine-Brain-Immune Network (GEBIN). The Congress will focus on the interactions among the immune, endocrine, and nervous systems. These interactions occur at multiple levels: from the common use of intracellular pathways by immune and neuro-endocrine mediators to the long-loop exchange of information among the three systems that can result in physiologic and adaptive effects. However, such interactions may be unbalanced or even disrupted, contributing to pathology, as it occurs during many autoimmune, inflammatory, metabolic, and infectious diseases. Thus, the central focus of this Congress will be to discuss and stimulate research that translates basic to clinical aspects of immune-neuro-endocrine interactions.

Some particular aspects that will be covered during the Congress are oriented to analyse the relevance of interactions among immune, neuro, and endocrine mechanisms at molecular, intra/inter cellular and whole body levels for:

a) health maintenance and brain functions
b) effect of stress on immunity
c) metabolic disruptions
d) pathophysiology of inflammatory, infectious, autoimmune, and neurological and
psychiatric diseases
e) potential therapeutical interventions based on targeting novel (e.g. neuro-endocrine) components of  the mentioned diseases

So, please join us in Dresden in October 2011
